Accounting Assistant

As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our financial operations. You will assist with month-end reconciliations, manage purchase orders, and handle both accounts payable and receivable tasks. This position offers an opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of accounting and grow within the company.

Responsibilities:

• Support month-end reconciliations.
• Create purchase orders and send them to vendors.
• Reconcile vendor statements.
• Receive and process accounts payable invoices.
• Create and send out accounts receivable invoices.
• Assist with payroll calculations and maintain HR records.
• Process expense reports.
• Post entries into Sage 100.
• Assist in generating reports and financial statements for various departments.
• Participate in ad hoc projects as necessary.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in bookkeeping and accounting.
• Intermediate skills in Excel, including spreadsheet manipulation.
• Basic accounting skills, with experience in either accounts payable, accounts receivable, or an accounting internship.
• Experience with Sage or other ERP systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is a plus, but not required.
• Intermediate knowledge of Excel for pulling reports, generating, and manipulating data using formulas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to work cross-functionally and support multiple departments.

Work Environment:

The office is an open environment with 22 colleagues, fostering interaction with various departments and levels, including sales, service, warehouse, and executives. The culture is tight-knit and demands resilience, with a work pace that varies depending on the time of year.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pine Brook, NJ.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
