SUMMARY:  The Cook position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of TH residential food services on the weekend and when the Executive Chef is not present. This includes daily lunch and dinner service and support for residents’ individual dietary planning needs in coordination with our registered dietitian and Executive Chef.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for commercial kitchen and food service management including safe food storage, maintaining records and food inventory.
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards, ensuring that all work/storage areas are clean, free of hazards and properly arranged.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve lunch and dinner service.
  • Incorporate best practices and individual resident needs into TH meal planning and preparation.
  • Consult with Executive Chef on individual dietary and nutrition goals.
  • Ensure a high degree of resident satisfaction with all aspects of food service with a holistic focus on healthy food choices and appropriate substitutions.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and regulatory agencies as they relate to food service.
  • Assist with managing routine maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
  • Contribute to a positive community environment through resident, staff, family and community interactions and relationships.
  • Initiate learning opportunities for residents, staff and family on topics of nutrition, diet, food and health.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with outside suppliers, vendors, and contracted supports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  SUPERVISORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision of staff while working in the culinary areas.
  • Train, support, and mentor the Treasure House team in safe kitchen practices and proper food handling procedures to maintain a safe and compliant food service program.
  • Stay within resident food cost per meal limitations while producing and serving food as outlined in the Treasure House budget.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 5 years’ experience in the culinary field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safe, sanitary food handling procedures, preparation methods, merchandising and supervision
  • Current Food Handlers Certification with the ability to obtain a Food Managers Certification
  • Must clear Full Background Check (including but not limited to criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Report)
  • Must clear pre-employment drug screening
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting persons with IDD
  • First aid, CPR, and Article 9 Certifications (must have 30 days after hire- trainings can be provided)
  • Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card (must have within 30 days after hire)

Job Type: Full-time (40 hours)

Salary: From $18.00 per hour
