Job Description

Job Description

The Offer: You don't need to know how to swing a hammer. You need to know how to keep promises, keep schedules, and keep people moving. HEI is creating a brand new Junior Project Manager role: a 12 to 18-month paid development track that takes a sharp, organized, accountable person with zero construction background and builds them into a full Project Manager running their own jobs. We pay you to learn. We pay for your certifications. We map your path. Then we promote you.

If you've been managing a restaurant, running an office, handling military logistics, coordinating events, or running point on retail operations, and you're ready for a real career trajectory in a growing business, keep reading.

What We Offer:

  • Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000 starting salary, depending on transferable skills
  • Defined Raise Path: Milestone-based raises during the development track. Target at full PM transition (months 12 to 18): $65,000 or higher.
  • Real Career Trajectory: Junior PM → Project Manager → Senior PM → Operations Manager. This role exists because we're scaling, not because we need a seat filled.
  • Paid Training: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, JobTread certification, and ongoing professional development, all paid by HEI
  • Direct Mentorship: You work side by side with our Senior PM. Real coaching, real feedback, real reps.
  • Roth Simple IRA with company match
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • HRA healthcare support
  • Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle use
  • Ground floor opportunity in a Fort Wayne residential contractor scaling to triple revenue by 2030
  • Direct access to ownership. No corporate ladder before your voice is heard.
Compensation:

$50,000 - $60,000

Responsibilities:
  • Shadow our Senior PM on active jobs, learning sequencing, scheduling, budgets, and client communication from day one
  • Build and maintain project schedules in JobTread (we'll train you on the software)
  • Track project budgets, change orders, and daily logs
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors. Confirm deliveries, schedule trades, and follow up on permits.
  • Walk job sites with the PM, learning to read what's done well, what's behind, and what needs attention
  • Sit in client meetings. Gradually take over communication on smaller jobs as you earn it.
  • Document progress through JobTread and CompanyCam
  • By months 12 to 18, run small projects ($25K to $75K) under PM oversight
Qualifications:

What We're Looking For:

  • No construction experience required
  • Strong candidates may come from office management, military logistics, restaurant or hospitality management, retail operations, project coordination, customer service, or recent college programs
  • Exceptional organizational skills. You manage multiple things at once without dropping any.
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable with software (Microsoft products, basic spreadsheets). We will train JobTread and CompanyCam.
  • Calm under pressure. Construction surprises you daily. You adjust without panic.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, clean driving record
  • OSHA 30 within the first 6 months (paid by HEI)
  • High school diploma or GED. Associates or bachelor's degree a plus.

A Plus (Not Required):

  • Any exposure to construction, trades, or skilled labor
  • Experience coordinating multiple people, vendors, or schedules
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

The Standard (What We Demand):

  • Ownership: You own the outcome. When something goes sideways, your first move is to fix it, not explain it.
  • Communication: You return calls. You write clear emails. You repeat the question back to make sure you heard it.
  • Organization: Calendars, checklists, follow-ups. You are the person friends ask to plan the trip.
  • Professionalism: Clients pay premium prices. You represent HEI like a pro from email subject line to jobsite handshake.
  • Coachability: You take feedback like an adult, ask why, and adjust.

Why People Stay at HEI (Our Core Values):

  • Integrity: We do what we say, every time
  • Reliability: We back our work and honor our commitments
  • Communication: Radical transparency with clients and the team
  • Craftsmanship: We obsess over the details that others ignore
  • Professionalism: How we show up defines who we are
  • Be a Shark: Attack the day with enthusiasm and determination

Application Note: In the cover letter or notes section, tell us about one time you owned an outcome that wasn't technically your job.
