The City of Pearland, TX - Police Department is seeking to hire a full-time Police Records Clerk to assist with the day-to-day operations of our Police department. Are you data-driven? The Police Records Clerk earns a competitive salary of $17.96 to $21.07 per hour based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A Day in the Life of the Police Records Clerk
Job Summary
Perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in support of the Police Department including, but not limited to, entering and updating offense and accident reports, filing, typing, and preparing TCIC/NCIC validations. Answer incoming non-emergency calls, maintain accurate accounts of all reports, and prepare packets for prosecution as appropriate.
Must be able to pass a criminal history check and polygraph testing. Must be available to work weekdays, overtime, and emergency work.
Essential Functions
Regular and timely attendance at work. Enters, codes, and retrieves a variety of information from various computer systems, according to appropriate procedures. Searches and retrieves information from files, computer records, and other documents in response to specific requests. Releases information and documents in accordance with the Public Information Act and other applicable laws and procedures. Sorts, reviews, and screens police reports for completeness before forwarding to district attorney, defendants, victims, and other government agencies. Maintains logs and other records to assure tracking of case files. Processes offense and accident requests and deposit fees. Categorize statistics according to a variety of guidelines and criteria. Answers phone calls for records division and responds to a variety of requests for information concerning records and department functions and policies. Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of law enforcement functions, preferred. Knowledge of Municipal Government, ordinances, Texas Penal Code, and other laws, rules and regulations associated with record keeping. Must be able to work evenings, nights and weekends. Must be able to work Monday to Friday (8 am to 5pm or 7am to 5pm), overtime provided, and emergency work.
Microsoft software skills are preferred. Outlook software skills are preferred. Scanning, filing, and organization are preferred. Running multiple software applications are preferred. Deposit fees for Crywolf alarm permits.
Customer service skills to assist citizens with the Crywolf permit accounts.
Special Certifications and Licenses: NCIC/TCIC certified, or the ability to obtain in six (6) months. State of Texas Notary, preferred. CPR Certified, preferred. Valid, Texas Driver's License required. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
