SUMMARY:

The Production Operator is responsible for safely operating manufacturing equipment, monitoring product quality, and supporting efficient production processes. This role ensures production targets, safety standards, and quality requirements are consistently met. Compounds, mixes and blends chemical batches by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Monitor production lines to ensure efficient workflow and product quality
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting
• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality regulations
• Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
• Reads work order or formula to determine types and quantities of materials to weigh and procedure to be followed for manufacturing process.
• Weighs quantities of materials for use in the manufacturing processes.
• Load raw materials products in prescribed sequence into vat, hopper or mixing pot.
• Monitor and log time and temperature as specified on Batch ticket.
• Accurately records information such as weight, type of product, date and batch number of products produced
• Maintains accuracy of inventory of materials used and on hand by recording on the batch sheet and marking drums.
• Perform quality checks during production to ensure products meet production specifications and customer quality standards.
• Package finished products
• Places loose or packaged material on scales and adds or removes portions of material to obtain specified weight.
• Transfers weighed materials to production or storage areas
• Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of manufacturing process.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S/housekeeping standards)
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns to supervisors
• Assist with machine changeovers and setup activities
• Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality, and production teams
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

3rd Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:45 P.M. - 6:15 A.M. (plus $3.00 shift differential).

Additional requirements for the position also include but are not limited to:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Possess minimum math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
• Ability to use measuring tools and production equipment
• Forklift certification preferred or
• Able to or willing to learn to operate forklift safely.
• Being able to work in a hot and dusty environment (safety PPE provided)
• Follow all safety guidelines and processes
• Speak, read and write English effectively
• Learn to use and operate scan guns to report and control inventories
• Able to lift 55 lbs. bags in a constant rhythm
• Physically able to work 8 hrs. shift
• Lean and practice Lean Manufacturing Techniques
• Complete required safety training timely
• Must wear required safety PPE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Seeing -

• Must be able to read reports and complete reports in English.

Hearing:

• Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers

Standing/Walking/Mobility :

• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, or chemicals as applicable
• Must be able to stand to operate a sit-down-up lift; mobility between departments and attend meeting of employees and managers.

• Lifting/Pulling/Pushing
• Dexterity/Grasping/Feeling:
• Must be able to mop, sweep, pick up and carry items
