Job Description

The Copy Editor Expert is responsible for reviewing, editing, and refining written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established style guidelines. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the quality and integrity of all written communications across the organization.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, possesses exceptional language proficiency, and has extensive experience in editorial standards, grammar, and content optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and edit written content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax
  • Ensure consistency with organizational style guides, including standards such as AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style
  • Improve clarity, readability, and overall flow of content
  • Verify facts, data, and references for accuracy and credibility
  • Collaborate with writers, content creators, and marketing teams to refine messaging
  • Maintain consistency in tone, voice, and formatting across all materials
  • Edit a variety of content types, including articles, reports, marketing materials, and digital content
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Provide constructive feedback to writers to improve content quality
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and brand standards
  • Assist in developing and updating editorial guidelines and best practices

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field required
  • Advanced degrees or editorial certifications are a plus

Experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in copy editing, proofreading, or editorial roles
  • Experience working in publishing, media, marketing, or corporate communications preferred

Compensation
