SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Middle School Principal, the middle school history teacher will effectively teach from a biblical worldview while managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students and parents.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Effectively manage a classroom.
• Teach history from a biblical worldview and with excellence.
• Create an engaging, relational, and joy-filled learning environment with the students.
• Provide excellence in planning, teamwork, and communication.
• Be creative, have a strong work ethic, and think "outside the box".
• Work in a team-centered environment.
• Include biblical integration in all lessons.
• Engage students in inquiry-based activities.
• Other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:

• Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School. Willing to enroll eligible children at Southside Christian School.
• Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed philosophy of Christian education.
• Must have experience working directly with students. Experience in a middle or high school setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
• Must be able to obtain ACSI Certification.
• Bachelor's degree in history is required. Master's is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to evacuate students in the event of an emergency.
• Ability to sit, bend, stand, as needed in interactions with students.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
