The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling. Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum's collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas's filmmaking career.

Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, caf, retail store, and community spaces.

Position Summary

This is a 6 month contract, benefits-eligible position. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Recruiter to join the People & Culture team. Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO), the Recruiter will be responsible for sourcing, screening, and presenting candidates across multiple departments while maintaining an exemplary, equitable, and engaging hiring process and candidate experience.

This role plays a critical part in attracting top talent, building strong candidate relationships, and developing robust talent pipelines to support the museum's continued growth. The Recruiter will support hiring across a broad range of departments, including Visitor Services, Retail, Revenue & Engagement, Security, and Operations, as well as Curatorial, Education and Public Programs, Marketing and Communications, Technology, Finance, and other administrative functions.

The successful candidate will bring a passion for advancing arts and cultural institutions in Los Angeles and demonstrate strong alignment with the museum's mission, values, and vision.

Responsibilities
  • Implement effective sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates through various channels, including online job boards, social media platforms, networking events and direct sourcing techniques
  • Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs
  • Review resumes, applications, and other candidate materials to assess qualifications, skills, and experience
  • Conduct initial phone or video interviews to evaluate the candidate's suitability for specific roles and ensure alignment with position requirements
  • Collaborate with hiring manager to understand position requirements, assess cultural fit, and develop effective candidate evaluation criteria
  • Utilize applicant tracking system and other recruitment tools to track candidate progress, maintain accurate candidate records, and generate recruitment reports on metrics
  • Provide departmental administrative and clerical support, as directed by the CPCO.
  • Conduct reference checks and background screenings as required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies throughout the recruitment process, including data privacy, equal employment opportunity, fair chance hiring and diversity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives
  • Supports the job description review process to ensure compliance and correct FLSA classification
  • Assists with updating and tracking candidate activities in the museum's applicant tracking system (ATS)
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging recruitment technologies
  • Assists with a range of special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years' experience in talent acquisition
  • Previous experience at an art, cultural, or educational institution is a plus
  • Previous experience developing and managing recruiting strategies and identifying recruiting events, sources and other outreach strategies
  • Knowledge of EEO, OFCCP, ADA and employment laws
  • Thorough understanding of hiring, candidate selection and assessment processes

$30 - $35 an hour
