Position RequirementsResponsible for the safe, efficient and quality-conscious transport of bulk scrap commodities to or from barges, railcars, trucks and storage facilities. Duties of incumbent are: - Operate various size (up to approximately 100 ton) construction trucks,transporting scrap and/or finished materials to and from marine dock, storage yard,receiving bins and other locations as required
-Understand and comply with policies, procedures and guidelines for the safe operation of the vehicle
- Perform routine inspection of the vehicle prior to operation and noting any problems requiring maintenance
- Perform approved maintenance on vehicle as needed
- Perform fueling and lubrication of the vehicle as required
- Follow proper procedures for loading, traveling and dumping loads
- Follow proper procedures for startup, shut down and lockout of the vehicle
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and in working order at the end of the shift
- Promptly respond to customer requests for service, materials and support
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school graduation certificate or equivalent is desired but not required.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
- Must be able to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
- Must be able to take direction and supervision and work cooperatively with other people.
- Must be able to lift / carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a sitting position (i.e. vehicle cab) for extended periods of time.
- Requires work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be available to work all shifts and weekends.
